about

Ambient drone synthesis and the soundtrack to our demise... or perhaps our beginning.

This album mainly features the pairing of the Soma Labs Lyra-8 and Dreadbox Typhon, with some additional synthesis and modulation provided by CV Mod and MIDI Mod for iOS, two apps that I wrote and still maintain. The "Beginning" and "The End" embody my first two sessions with the Lyra-8. Really the only way to use it is to press record and go. I made a lengthy YouTube vid of "The End" with on-screen text that describes the entire setup and how it all works with the apps. The "Epilogue" was an impromptu ambient jam played on several hardware synths at once from a single keyboard controller. "Breathe" is just a little bonus which is a short play of a patch that I designed for the Sequential Prophet Rev2.

Gear used: Soma Labs Lyra-8, Dreadbox Typhon, CV Mod (iOS), MIDI Mod (iOS), AudioKit Retro Piano (iOS), Roland Alpha Juno 2, Roland System-8, Roland MC-707, Yamaha TX-7, Behringer Neutron, Behringer Model-D, Korg MS-20 Mini, Sequential OB-6, Sequential Prophet Rev2 16-voice
